Pull-up banners, also called roll-up banners, stand at almost every booth, registration desk and seminar entrance at events in Suntec Singapore and Sands Expo at Marina Bay Sands. They are also among the items most likely to need replacing at short notice: a cassette arrives damaged, a graphic is out of date, or a sponsor is confirmed after the banners were printed.

The venues are named here only as locations; EZ Print is not affiliated with them or with any event organiser. This guide covers the decisions that matter for an urgent replacement: whether you need a full stand or only a new graphic, the size and the cassette allowance, the print material and the handover at the venue.

Do You Need a New Stand or Only a New Graphic?

Start by checking what is actually broken. If the cassette works and only the graphic is wrong, a replacement graphic can fit an existing cassette where the width matches. If the cassette spring, pole or base is damaged, order a complete stand. Saying which one you need in the brief avoids printing the wrong item.

  • Graphic only. Measure the cassette width and the visible height of the old graphic, and note the make or model if it is printed on the base. A replacement graphic is quoted to fit that cassette.
  • Complete stand. Choose the width and the base. Bases range from simple cassettes with fold-out feet to wider, heavier bases that stand more steadily on uneven floors and in air-conditioning drafts.
  • X-stand instead. An X-stand holds a flat graphic by its corners on a crossed frame. It is lighter and has no cassette, which can make it a simpler choice when the stand is not reused often.

The pull-up banners page describes the formats that are quoted.

What Size Should a Pull-Up Banner Artwork Be?

Common pull-up widths are 850 mm and 1,000 mm, with about 2,000 mm of visible height. The printed graphic is longer than the visible area, because the cassette holds a strip at the bottom and the top rail holds a strip at the top. Ask for the template for the stand you order, and keep important content well clear of both ends.

The parts of the graphic that nobody at the event will see are the parts most often filled with contact details:

  1. Bottom allowance. Roughly the bottom 60 mm sits inside the cassette, and the lowest 100 mm or so of the visible graphic is hidden behind whoever stands at the stand. Keep text, logos, websites and QR codes out of that zone.
  2. Top allowance. The top rail clamps a strip of the graphic. Keep titles and logos well below the top edge.
  3. Side bleed. Add bleed to the sides as the template shows, so the trimmed edges have no white line.
  4. Reading height. Put the logo and main message in the upper part of the stand, where people walking past will see them. A website or QR code works best around chest height.
  5. Resolution. About 150 dpi at full size is a common working figure for photographs on a pull-up banner. Keep logos and text as vectors.

Which Material Keeps a Pull-Up Graphic Flat?

Pull-up graphics are usually printed on a film made for roll-up stands, often with a grey back that blocks light from behind. These films are chosen because they resist curling at the edges and hang flat. A material meant for hung outdoor banners can curl when it is rolled into a cassette and pulled up, so ask which material suits your stand.

  • Curl. Edge curl hides text at the sides of the graphic and makes a stand look tired. A film made for roll-up use is the main protection against it.
  • Blockout. A grey or blockout back stops spotlights or windows behind the stand from showing the pole through the graphic.
  • Finish. A matt or satin finish reduces glare under exhibition lighting and in photographs.

How Does Delivery or Collection at the Venue Work?

Island-wide courier delivery is available, and delivery is confirmed separately from production in the quotation. For an event, give the recipient's name and mobile number, the event name and the stand number. Confirm the delivery point and contact with the venue or organiser, because each event sets its own arrangements for receiving deliveries.

  • One contact. Name one person who will answer the phone and meet the courier.
  • Venue instructions. Ask the organiser how exhibitor deliveries are received during build-up and show days, and pass that on.
  • Collection. Collection by arrangement — tell us when you would like to collect and we will confirm the time. A pull-up stand in its bag fits most cars.

Worked Example: Replacing a Damaged Roll-Up Stand at Sands Expo

Hypothetical illustration. Figures are assumptions for explanation, not a real transaction or advice. An exhibitor at Sands Expo unpacks a roll-up stand and finds the cassette spring broken. The example follows the decisions the exhibitor makes in order: what to replace, the size, the file, the brief and the handover.

Step 1: Decide what to replace. The spring is broken, so the cassette cannot be reused. The booth manager orders a complete stand rather than a graphic only.

Step 2: Choose the size and base. The booth manager chooses an 850 mm wide stand with about 2,000 mm visible height, and a wider base because the stand will sit near an aisle on a carpeted floor.

Step 3: Check the file. The designer asks for the template, places the artwork on it, and moves the website and QR code up out of the bottom allowance.

Step 4: Send the brief. The booth manager fills in the quote builder with the size, base and required date, and sends it with the PDF by WhatsApp. Artwork, stock and capacity are confirmed. Timing is agreed when the job is confirmed.

Step 5: Arrange the handover. The booth manager confirms the delivery point and contact with the venue or organiser, gives the stand number, and meets the courier at the agreed point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is same-day printing available for a replacement pull-up banner?

Same-day and urgent printing available. Subject to artwork approval, payment, print type and production availability. Timing confirmed per job. Standard turnaround is 7–14 working days. The size, the base and whether the artwork is ready all affect what can be fitted.

Why do some roll-up banners curl at the sides?

Usually because the graphic is printed on a material that is not made for roll-up stands. Films made for pull-up use resist curling and hang flat; ask which material suits your stand.

Can I replace just the graphic in my existing cassette?

Often, yes. A replacement graphic can fit an existing cassette where the width matches. Measure the cassette and the visible height, and say whether the spring and pole still work.

How do I keep text from being hidden at the bottom?

Keep all text, logos, websites and QR codes well above the bottom of the graphic. The bottom strip sits inside the cassette, and the lowest part of the visible area is often behind the person at the stand.

Can I collect the banner myself?

Yes. Collection by arrangement — tell us when you would like to collect and we will confirm the time.

What Should Be Checked Before Ordering an Urgent Pull-Up Banner?

Before ordering an urgent pull-up banner, confirm whether you need a full stand or a graphic only, the width and visible height, the base, and the material. Check the artwork against the template, with nothing important in the top or bottom allowance. Then confirm one on-site contact and the venue's delivery arrangements in the same message as the brief.

  • Full stand or replacement graphic decided.
  • Width and visible height confirmed (850 mm or 1,000 mm is common).
  • Template used; nothing important in the bottom or top allowance.
  • Material suited to roll-up stands; blockout back if lit from behind.
  • Base chosen for the floor and position.
  • On-site contact and delivery point confirmed with the venue or organiser.
